ULTRASONIC CAVITATION emits ultrasound waves causing the permanent destruction of fat cells. The sound waves are emitted at a frequency that is strong enough to cause the fat cells to vibrate so rigorously together that cellular membranes rupture and the lungs, liver and kidneys metabolize the contents of the fat cells. The waste produced is then excreted as carbon dioxide via the lungs, sweat, urine and feces.

Ultrasonic Cavitation only affects the cells that it directly targets via the application of the transducer. You can increase the surface area by creating a fold and transmitting the frequency from one side of the fold to the other.

Ultrasonic Cavitation can flatten/contour a specific area of concern and is not indicated for use on morbidly obese individuals. However, the technology will work on obese individuals. Keep in mind, though, that they will require more sessions.

With this modality, the fat that was targeted will be destroyed in that area. The patient should maintain or change their lifestyle depending on their desired results. If a patient increases their calorie consumption/decreases their calorie expenditure, they will gain weight in all the untreated areas and the layers of fat that were not affected by the cavitation will increase in size as well.

There are virtually no side effects. The sound waves that are emitted only go as deep as the hypodermal layer of the skin where the fat is found. The tissue surrounding the fat cells has a cellular structure that is not affected by the frequency of the soundwaves. 

Some individuals have more sensitive skin that others and will form a rash from the high power of the Ultrasonic Cavitation. If this occurs, the technician will reduce the power to the lowest setting and increase every three minutes to the patient's tolerance level. This rash is not pruritic or painful and will go away after a few days. Hydrocortisone can help reduce the appearance of the rash.
